Black is the new Black

The stunning centrepiece to this entrance is one of our most popular Aluminium gate designs, The Claverdon, finished in Satin Black to complement this beautiful rural residence in Warwickshire. The client had procured a vintage Elizabeth Regina ll Royal Mail post box, re-purposed and finished in Black so that it matched the beams of the property.  This, added to the Black pillar-mounted up lighting on both sides, combined with The Claverdon gives the effect of a sharp, clean yet still traditional look meaning the whole frontage is perfectly in keeping with its countryside surroundings.

However, behind this tidy rustic frontage hides the strong vital heart of modern security and access control. The gate itself is made of fully welded 3.2mm Aluminium, all the frame sections are fully reinforced for extra strength. Our Aluminium gates will never rot, rust, twist or warp under the enhanced torsional forces that modern automation conveys upon the frame. The underground automation units, just visible close to the pillars, are Roger Technology BR21 underground brushless motors. Irreversible and brushless these motors are simply light years ahead of the rest of the underground motor manufacturers.

RT have been putting brushless motors in their underground automation for over a decade and now with the 2nd generation of these motors they’ve perfected it:

  • Super long life, even in the most intensive use situations.
  • Consistent performance in any environment.
  • Extremely low power consumption.
  • particularly suited for use areas prone to waterlogging or flooding.

These units have been tested to beyond the realms of normal use by one of our partner installers and the results have proved our engineers long held conviction that they are some of the best engineered equipment available is entirely justified. Combined with an electronic dropbolt, operated in parallel with the gates, they provide a very high degree of security against being forced.

To control the operation of these gates we’ve paired it with a Telguard GSM intercom allowing duplex speech and a one way video feed so the client can see exactly who is asking for access to the premises before remote opening the gate. Enhanced resolution for low light and bright light situations ensure confidence when a request for access is made. The unit calls a list of set numbers; first maybe a handset and monitor in the house or the via the Telguard app to an Iphone, Android or IPAD. This allows the owner to answer the call from anywhere in the world, assuming you have internet access.

For safety and ease of use an induction loop was installed under the driveway in the courtyard and safety photo cells on the exterior of the gate on the pillars, the small scallop shaped 180 degree photo cells from Roger Technology, seen on the picture above if you look closely, ensure the gates won’t close whilst the beam is being broken.

The design, functionality and scheduling the installation was client lead but with the guidance, suggestions, project management and then finally implementation by the Arden Gates team using their combined 100+ years’ experience to ensure a smooth transition from initial idea to reality.
